Hi all, we have recently become a permanent additions to the state, now living south of Hobart. What is/are considered to be the premier full winter snow walks that are "week end" accessible.
Cheers,
randal.

Unfortunately there has been only a light dusting of snow this winter so far

I suppose it depends on your experience and snow conditions. Mount Rufus or King William 1 would be good day walks if it snows, the Walls of Jerusalem would be a good introductory Tassie winter weekend walk.

Living south of Hobart, Check out the snowy range. If there's white stuff anywhere in the state, it'll be up there.

Everyone moves 'south of hobart', what's with that, don't they want to meet Tasmanians?
Anyhow, yes, last visit to Mt Field area was a memorable weekended in winter. If there is no snow around then the coastal walks are the go, no sense being cold without snow to me.

Yep, you can own a huge bit of land all well under an hr's drive to the Capital city. That's pretty rare for our mainland friends.

Thanks for the tips guys, will investigate all. Re "mainlanders" coming down south. Agree the entire state is magnificent, but it was the "channel" that drew us - sailing & kayaking etc. Been walking down here for greater the 25 years, in fact, we'd even come down just for a cup of coffee, got to the stage where we couldn't see the sense in going back. The border ought be closed to further immigration now
Cheers,
Randal.

I'd be the one pointing north saying "go about 600km's that way"

What about returning expats? Or will I have to try to claim asylum?

Sail a leaky boat across Bass Straight and we will HAVE to grant you asylum

My luck, by the time I organise a boat, they'll have set up off-shore processing on Deal Island.
