**Bear Sighting- Overland Track**

Mon 01 Apr, 2013 8:23 am

News Flash- 01st April 2013- A large bear has been seen near huts on the Overland Track. Reports have him as not too aggressive though walkers are advised to not carry checkered red picnic blankets or packed sandwiches cut on the diagonal. Walkers are strongly advised to bunk in with Track Rangers for the foreseeable future or until the bear has been caught or just if they feel like it. If walkers see said bear please take the standard precaution ie climb the nearest tree and start throwing down any ultralight hikers already up there. You'll likely need to throw down your banana chews as well but at least you may still save the dark cherry ripes.

I stay away from the huts on the overland track for fear of the 'hairy bears' that lurk in the shadows....

Don't worry, weve headed up the Arm River track tonight with some "10-80 brand" Scroggin to rectify the problem.

Old school Tasmanian method to control problem varmits.

Should be sorted by midnight I reckon.

It was the diagonal cut sandwiches ... everyone knows bears prefer sandwiches cut into four squares ;)
