We live in the Old Beach area and have a large range of native birds and a couple of introduced ones. The other night I went out for a walk just after dark and saw this Tawny Frogmouth out of the corner of my eye. It was good enough to wait for me to get the camera to take a photo.

On Monday at the Walls, about 15 mins shy of Wild Dog Creek I glimpsed not 2m off the track a long, thin tail, brown with a dark tip. The animal moved in a straight ahead motion rather than hopping, and was completely silent as it slunk off into the scrub. Not the usual crash/bang of macrapods that often scare the crap out of me. I did not see the animals hind quarters but its tail was close to 1m long. Any ideas?...

heading on down the Towlers Bay track yesterday (off Bairne track, off West Head Rd, Ku-Ring-Gai Chase NP). A very docile "little" person, 'bout 3 or 4 foot long. It didn't budge an inch as i anxiously walked around it.

Lots of small copperheads and whips, the first two days. One very large (and antisocial) tiger on the penultimate evening. Wallabies and wombats everywhere. One echidna. Lots of Currawongs and smaller birds. Plus the wedgies. There's always something special about seeing a wedgie . . .

I'm like a few other lucky ones here in that I live next to a NP. This guy visits home now and then. He's over 2 mt in length. Today he swam in my dam. No pics. He sees me coming from a long way off and heads up a tree. I got this one though.

For the day I saw 1 echidna, 2 foxes, 3 snakes and a large group of about 20 yellow tail black cockatoos.

Stalked this one for over 45 minutes before he paused long enough to get the shot.

Male green jumping spider. They are tiny, no more than 5mm long. Captured with my macro gear while out walking in the local park.

On the way into Lake St Clair on Friday I saw a "fist sized" Puggle browsing through the detritus on the side of the road , never observed one that small before ,does anyone know how big the are when they leave the pouch and fend on their own

They leave the pouch at about 2 months (when it starts to grow spikes) but are left in a burrow. The mother returns to feed the young every 4 days or so. At about 6-7 months the puggle leaves the nest to fend for itself. (Hopefully I have remembered that correctly. Learnt that from a wildlife park in Tassie)

Probably a familiar sight to many of you, but I've never seen one and so was very excited to get this shot. Don't know the species, anyone help out?

It was on the very lovely Mount Lawson summit loop walk, Mount Lawson state park, Victoria.
