The bike house looks great. Only problem it would be easy for someone to steal your house and then u would be homeless. And bikeless and pissed off too.

For those intrested, in addition to WOOFERS network my wife and I have begun using http://www.helpx.net/ Help X seems very good thus far, it is a free and we have 'helpers' booked up to stay on our farm over the next 6 months, a great mix of poeple with a wide range of skill sets, from all over the planet. Such a network offers possabilities outside the norm, worth a look for those intrested in alternate living arrangments.

Wow, that was an interesting read. Very curious to know if he did this? I think I would opt for a plane-ticket to NZ and a backcountry hut pass if it came to that.

That was a sad read. I don't understand why he was put into goal. In twenty years he never harmed anybody (and I don't consider losing some food or a few books as anything harmful). No one seemed to ask him what he would do if he were released... did he want to return to his home. What right did the police have to dismantle his home at all? Surely living in it for so many years would give him some sort of squatters rights (do they have those in the US). I wonder if the townsfolk would be willing to accept him back now that they know who he is, I wonder if he would be in danger of harm from yobbos.

I loved the lady who put a sign on her door "please don't break in, just tell us what you need". I would put a box of good on my front verandah without too many qualms... there are plenty of people on welfare that take more from me without any cause. So many questions.

Yes, I'm in similar box. If someone has lived "rough" for that time, just let them continue to do same, but some communication is required. If he stuck a note on people's doors, saying that he needed food and books and clothes, I think that human nature would ensure that locals would provide such stuff, rather than having him break in.

As for "myself"....who knows. Maybe we will find out sometime, but don't hold your breath.
