WTB Lightweight Shelter

Postby FootTrack » Wed 30 Jul, 2014 10:06 pm

Hi folks,

I am in the market for a lightweight shelter. Ideally around the 1 kg mark or less. Preferably a tarp, but am also looking at hammocks and lightweight tents as well.

What have you got?! :)

 I'm supposing a gold nugget comes with these wayno? Do people actually use them? I would be too afraid that I was going to rip/damage it ;)

Hey dinna89, what is the weight of your tent? And what condition is it in and why are you selling it? Cheers :)

Condition is good, selling as I upgraded to a tarptent double rainbow to replace both my double and single tents.
Weight on my scales is 1475 grams including poles, sacks, and tyvek groundsheet (not including the two extra hiking poles required to set it up). One pole is slightly bent but this in no way affects the pitch, will post pics if interested.
Inner can be detached and used as a single skin saving a bit of weight.
The biggest issue with this tent is that you need to use two hiking poles (or regularly hike with someone who's willing to let you use their pole)

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes, some photos of your tent would be very helpful thanks including the bent pole. I always carry poles with me anyway so at least that isn't a big issue for me :) How many night would you say you've used it for and is there any reason why you describe the tent as being in "good" condition rather than "great" or "excellent"? Thanks for your help.

Pics of tent (last year, has had little use since). Note that the bent pole goes on the end of the tent, and bends in use anyway.

Hey dinna, I'm going to have to give this a miss sorry. A friend offered me their MLD Duomid early this week and it probably suits my needs better. Good luck selling it though - it looks like a great, bombproof little shelter and I read a lot of things about it. I doubt you'll have any trouble selling it :)
