looking for info on mt Kosci

Postby handyt2 » Thu 23 Apr, 2015 9:30 pm

Hi..
I wanted to do photo walk at the main range of Mt Kosci this weekend. I've been wanting to do some snow photography near the peak. Anybody been there recently?
I checked the weather will be -3 and raining not snowing this coming Saturday.
Thanx for the info..

I'm not sure what you're asking.

There will not be much snow around in the ground.

There will not be pleasant snow photography conditions on kosci this weekend.

It well be cold, wet and miserable.

Pick your gear well, this couple was well prepared and even that wasn't enough: http://m.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/ ... zrq9y.html

People die on the main range in the conditions that are forecast.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

I agree with Icefest. In autumn the weather can be quite bad. In winter you expect blizzards etc, but in autumn there may be an expectation of fine weather. I was caught in a blizzard on the Main Range on the ANZAC weekend, with a disorderly retreat made. Take great care any time from about March to October. The other period to take care is from November to February.

Where were you intending to walk? Note that walk and snow don't really go together. The quickest way is up the main quad. Note that it can be mild and still at Thredbo but bitterly cold and windy at the top station. Better to have warm clothing on and be too hot than to freeze in shorts and T-shirt.
