Conditions around Mt Bogong

Postby oyster_07 » Wed 06 May, 2015 4:08 pm

I am heading up to My Bogong and Mt Wills over the period 14-17 May 2015.

The weather report states that snow will be falling between now and then, and the weather will then become finer for my trip.

If anyone goes up that way between now and next week, I would certainly appreciate an update on conditions, specifically how low the snow is and how deep it is. It shouldn't be that deep, but is good to check.

My trip's intentions are at:

I'd guess that there'll be no more than 20 on the peak itself, with very little below 1800
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

Was up there 3 days ago. No snow. Ground warm. Nothing freezing. Any snow falling will melt quickly.

Creek on Eskdale is not easily useable, but plenty of water at Michell's. Also good small creek off west side of Hooker Plateau. Water at Cleve Cole.

Have fun.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I am expecting. The comment on the ground is appreciated.

Interesting, I was there the weekend before and there was 5cm in the ground.

I guess it depends on the weather the few days before.

Was anyone up around Bogong or Feathertop recently? How deep is the snow on top?
