Hopefully they'll be able to make satellite messaging even more affordable for the average consumers.

Really? I thought Garmin has been doing nicely with their new products. Early bugs yes but good market enticing products.

Then you have not had the experiences I (and many others) have had with their cycling products.

Anything more complex than a simple GPS is likely to be riddled with bugs.

Hmmphf, Garmin cycling products;
Junk heart rate straps that barely last 12 months, cost around $80.00. Ebay Chinese straps have been costing me about $8.50 and have a similar lifespan.
New Ant+ "magnetometer", magnetless wheel hub speed sensor units. Badly affected by magnetic interference from structures such as steel bridges and man-hole covers. Won't work properly on earlier 800 Edge model head unit. Put simply, they don't work very well.
Garmin no longer supporting 800 units, a model that is barely 5 years old.

I have deliberately stayed out of their cycling products, yet, heaps of riders are into them. Prior to all these, I was mounting my eTrex on my bike before anyone in the club got into GPS and then decided smartphone was more practical in the long run than an expensive cycling unit on the bike. Still using my old VDO wireless cycling computer on the bike.
