[FS NSW SYD SW - Pick Up] LARGE WE Mountain Expedition Pack

Postby johnw » Sun 23 Nov, 2014 5:40 pm

2 x Wilderness Equipment Mountain Expedition Packs (size M and L) MEDIUM IS SOLD, LARGE STILL AVAILABLE
Selling $195-00 each or both for $380-00.
Local pick up (Campbelltown area).

These are BIG packs. They are in excellent condition and may well suit new buyers. They are aimed at longer trips in the mountains, ski-touring etc, although we have used them as general purpose bushwalking packs. They are not lightweight but have well designed harnesses for carrying big loads. I have found the harness very comfortable. There are multiple ways to configure the adjustments and secure whatever load is carried. The lid also doubles as a large bum bag that can be used for side trips. We've used the lids for that purpose including going up Mt Ossa and Barn Bluff in Tassie.

My son and I have owned these for a number of years and they have done a few multi-day trips and a number of overnighters but really have not had a lot of use. Knee issues and shin splints respectively have forced both of us down the ultralight path so these packs are now surplus.
In any case we both have too much gear and need to rationalise or my wife will kill us.

My pack is a Medium harness size and ~100 litre capacity. It only has a few minor dirty marks that should easily clean off but otherwise is pretty much like new. Son's pack is a Large harness size and ~105 litre capacity. On quick inspection it is in much the same condition as mine but maybe a few more marks.

WE only list specs for the current model (similar but heavier ) see:
http://wildernessequipment.com.au/detail.php?Code=Mountain%20Expedition

But here are some specs that I found elsewhere for the previous model:

The monster volume alpine expedition pack with the capacity and comfort for long approaches to remote peaks, multi-week ski traverses and all base camp carries - no more dangling overload gear around the outside of your pack. At camp it can then be stripped down and compressed to less than 20 litres for ascents and day circuits. The Mountain Expedition is constructed from snow-shedding synthetic fabrics with low moisture absorption.

Specification:

> Single-compartment, high-volume, high-tenacity polyester bag.
> The long, roll-down throat allows the pack to double as a 3/4 bivi bag.
> Detachable, dual-compartment top cover converts to very effective waist pack.
> Bag Fabric: High-tenacity, 450 denier ripstop polyester, PU coated.
> Reinforcing Layers: 600d nylon Kodra, PU coated.
> Colour: Red / Black.
> Internal Frame System: High-tensile, aluminium, asymmetric cross.
> Shoulder Harness: 3-D contoured Synchro-FORM with interchangeable insert plates.
> Hip Harness: Synchro-FORM Hi-Load with 3-D multi-laminated pads
> Harness Face Fabric: Non-absorbant textured polyester.
> Back sizes: XS/S (350/400mm), M (450mm), L (500mm).
> Bag Capacities: XS/S:95+, M:100+, L:105+ Litres.
> Pack Weights: XS/S: 2.95, M: 3.1, L: 3.2 kg.

An action shot of the large pack - Lake Ball, Tas. Please ignore the dangling orange garbage bag, I can't remember why he stuck it there.

Here is a photo of the harness on mine. The pack contains both my fully loaded 43 litre WE Contour pack plus my 15 litre small daypack and is still nowhere near capacity. The large pack above is bigger.

OK, I have too much gear and need to move these to reclaim some space before I end up on one of those "world's worst hoarders" TV shows.
Price reduced to $160-00 each - prefer to sell both for $300-00 (negotiable).
Prefer local pick up (SYD) but can post at buyer's cost.

Hi jwillson. Short answer is yes, but I'm currently in Hawaii until 23rd September.
If not urgent we could discuss when I return if you are still interested. PM sent.

Both packs still available. Further reduced to $150-00 each - prefer to sell both for $290-00 negotiable, but will separate.
Prefer local pick up (SYD) but can post at buyer's cost. Note these are bulky items to post.
Last postage estimate I had was about $38-00 standard parcel post from Sydney to Melbourne (for one pack).
