Hi all,
My partner, daughter and parents have a week off in late August/early September and are planning to go camping in northern NSW. My folks will be staying in a van, we will take our tent. All of us have done plenty of camping in SEQ and wanted to head further afield, but not too far (previously we visited New England NP which was great, but a bit of a drive now as our little one will only be 11 months old).
Currently we are eyeing off the Grafton area, perhaps Washpool/Gibraltar Range or Yuraygir NPs. The mountains are more appealing, but I also imagine they would be much colder than the coast at that time of year (not a problem for the oldies, of course - just mindful of the little one). We are all pretty keen bushwalkers, but a selection of shorter tracks (or longer ones without a lot of ups and downs) would cater to all of our abilities.
Could anyone make any suggestions for suitable campsites? Looks to be a few options at Yuraygir, and Mulligans or Bellbird campsites in the mountains, but it would be good to hear from people who have been there before. Needs to be accessible by a van, and ideally short driving distances (by 2WD) for accessing walking tracks.
Cheers,
Munch
