FS GEELONGISH OSPREY EXOS 38-MEDIUM TORSO.

Postby Lamont » Sat 29 Sep, 2018 11:40 am

I will have this sitting around so it's going.
I am in the process of getting a smaller rucksack for three to four days in warmer weather.
It is the previous superior model in alluring black and green of the Exos 38. Weight 0.97kg medium torso. Osprey says Medium will accommodate -46 cms to
53cms torso. I am 1.79m as a guide and am right in the middle of that range. Would easily suit a person both shorter and taller than I in that so called "average range".
Like all Osprey packs the 38 litres does not include the large back pocket or the side pockets. They do not count "closed" pockets like the back and side. You can see in the pics I could have put another bottle in there with the one already in there.
The body and the lid account for the 38 litres the back pocket and the side pockets add another 10 or so litres.
You can also see there is no stretching of the material or stretchy pockets -they all sit nice and flat as they did when I bought this.
The lid is removable and water bottles can be accessed easily and replaced while wearing the rucksack by pushing the top of the bottle first through the slot and twisting until the WHOLE bottle is upright in the pocket, the way I have it pictured, or you can carry your water bottles as the chap in the video does, easy.
Perfect for warmer weather EXOS users can attest to the superior venting of the mesh.

People are questioning Ospreys removal (to differentiate it from the Levity perhaps) of the hip belt pockets and shoulder strap pockets on the new model- the new model is also a wee bit heavier.
"I suspect the decision to remove the hipbelt and shoulder strap pockets was driven by weight and/or cost considerations or the belief that the excellent side pockets were enough. But it was the wrong decision: If I wanted to use the Exos long-term, I’d plan to spend $40 on accessory pockets from Gossamer Gear, MLD, or ZPacks. Unfortunately, these pockets won’t work as well as native pockets because they aren’t specifically designed for the Exos/Eja."

Also seen here in action, and just how much you can get in this sack -it really is remarkable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lD4AvMSPwvg
My load included a 700gm quilt and a double wall tent etc. Tent poles went upright inside the body of the pack.

It is in excellent condition no tears, scrapes, there is a tiny spot of road tar (from Baw Baw village car park) on the bottom.
It has all the straps and loops that it came with and the "Stow on the GO " trekking pole loop as well, to attach your poles while walking WITHOUT removing the pack, so you can keep them close and use them whenever you want.
Used 4-5 times only, with a load each time of between 10 and 12.5 kgs and it was comfy as anything. They say it will carry up to 13.5 kgs in the specs but I did not need to try this.
Used each time in Summer walking on the AAWT with either 2 or 3 days stuff inside in finesh weather.

The hip belt pockets easily holds my Samsung Galaxy S7-14cms X 7cms scroggin etc.
Shoulder pockets -sunnies, muesli bars, and holds my Garmin Inreach etc.

So you can have this with all the features of the current model PLUS hip belt pockets and shoulder pockets for
$107.50 plus I will set a max of $15 for postage.
or pick up of course. Tap on each pic to turn it the right way up.

Perfect back ventilation for the warm weather. The water bottles in the pockets show the scale- they are CLEANSE bottles and about 5cms longer than a standard 1 litre bottle. Will easily fit 2 1 litre bottles on each side. Has a water bladder hook inside. It is still in perfect condition- new price-$90 delivered.
About as low as I am willing to go I think.
