I had never heard of Sognefjord, but now I want to go there!

Not in Norway. Not technically in Europe either. And it's actually slightly more southerly too!

Absolutely stunning place to visit, 20 nights there and 24 nights in East Greenland probably my favourite walks to date. I seem to recall that this was named Torsukatakk Fjord on my maps, but I can't seem to find any confirmation online really. The body of water below I have seen called Aapilattup Avanna, and the island across the water (centre of the photo) named Pamialluk. Can't wait to get back there one day!

Haha yeah sorry, I just meant the windfarm in general. I watched a few videos and read a few blogs to try and work it out, sounds like a pretty warm place! How hot was it while you were there? Did you rest during the day/nightwalk around there?

I started walking at about 4am(a lot started early evening) and got to a place called Cotton Wood Bridge( at about 1130), all the hikers were lying/sleeping under the bridge. It was like a hobo camp, and as the shade moved hikers would play leap frog. I stayed until about 4pm then set off for another 3 hours to the next water. A trail angel came out to the bridge with bags of ice and made us all slushies, gave us pizza and sodas as well. So yes it was very hot.

Can you please help us out bigbird. The world is a very big place and few would have seen it all. For that reason a general principle was adopted when this game version was created to provide the country, or at least the continent (similar to the Aussie game where the state needs to be identified).

Also are you able to provide a larger image? I can't make out enough detail in that, could be anywhere from Hawaii to Africa.
1024x768 px is a good size for viewing and still keeps the file size small .

No worries, I can see it now but the photo in the previous post still doesn't display. I had tried to display that image in a separate window which immediately prompted me for a google login.
Sometimes there are issues when photos are hosted on other sites, I'm assuming it could be something to do with security settings.

Back to the game, is it looking toward Cerro Torre (obscured by cloud)?

Yeah, they're taken from a Google Photos album, and I assume it had something to do with the permissions there. The first one was from an album that hadn't been shared, but the second was the same photo but from a different album which had been shared previously.

As to your guess, unfortunately you're a fair ways south. We were fortunate enough to see Cerro Torre on our trip, and it's a beautiful mountain, but it is not in this picture. There is a very famous story of survival which happened in this range... (the name of the range or walk will do, bonus points if you can name the view).

Ah yes, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates. Some years since I read (and watched) Touching the Void, still have a copy of the book here somewhere.
So I'll say the three lagoons below Cordillera Huayhuash, and assuming Siula Grande is there somewhere.

Yep, that's the one! A beautiful part of the world. Can't recall whether Siula Grande would actually be in shot without access to maps, but it's somewhere close by if not. This is on the other side of the range to where they were camped. All yours John
