My bid is for somewhere near Anne Saddle running down towards Boyle River, part of St James Walkway in the Lewis Pass area?

Wobbly has it. Looking down to where the Route Burn jumps off the hill.

St. James Walkway is on my list but yet to get there.... closest I've been is Lake Constance and had tossed up pushing through to Lewis Pass but limited transport options meant i had to head back to St Arnaud.

I highly recommend the St James walk WFBW, 66 kms of fairly reasonable walking and the lure of a lovely soak in hot springs at the end.

Mt Washington. Coincidentally I saw this last week on an episode of an American railroads doco series I've been watching on SBS.
Some extreme weather has been recorded at the summit.

Yes it is.
There is a tradition for AT thru hikers to moon the train as it goes by. I didnt find out about this tradition until after I passed it. Here is the engine close up for you train buffs. Its a cog railway.

Thanks norts. Similar technology to the Abt railway between Queenstown and Strahan, that method having its origins in the mountainous regions of Europe.
Probably the only practical way of getting up the mountain back in the day. I like the way they levelled the boiler on the loco to match the gradient.
