Stepped hills?

Long way away.

How long did you take to ensure the edge of one block obscured the face of Geikie at the back?
Thu 10 Dec, 2020 6:26 am
It was a happy coincidence. Really. Honestly. Would I lie to you?
Thu 10 Dec, 2020 7:57 am
You were certainly exploring there.
Geikie at back places you on the plateau above Lake Tyndall.
I would like to have spent longer wandering around there.

I initially thought Mesa, but there's no scrub. Maybe back the other way to the calf?
Fri 11 Dec, 2020 12:08 pm
Not Mesa or The Calf. Could see it though! It was very open walking along this North - South aligned ridge.

Wylds Craig?
Fri 11 Dec, 2020 2:36 pm
Not Wylds, too far north
Fri 11 Dec, 2020 4:32 pm
It reminds me of Mt Snowy, although the profile doesn't quite fit the angle I've approached it.
Nothing visible behind but you are fair way below the peak. Maybe you're on the southern side of it?

Not Snowy, wrong range but not far off at all old chap

If I go WNW a little suggests you are alluding to Mt Chapman?
Sat 12 Dec, 2020 9:01 am
Chapman it is

Thanks, I'll try this one:

- Lake Hanson from near the junction of the Rodway/Hansons/Twisted Lakes tracks, Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair NP

You get this view while heading towards a peak that isn't an Abel.
Sun 13 Dec, 2020 8:51 pm
Is it in the Mt Field area?

It looks a little like Tarn Shelf Tortoise but no, this is a long way from Mt Field. Good Fagus at both spots though.

Can I recommend spending a bit longer exploring the nooks and crannys around Cradle Mt - it really is a very special place.

Eggs obviously knows where it is! Lake Hanson, I remember the first time I saw this as a kid, and always thought it really interesting how the lake is held back by a natural 'Dam Wall'.

Correct Zane, from somewhere near the junction of the Rodway/Hansons/Twisted Lakes tracks.

Cuvier Valley, I believe. Looks like the skeleton has lost a bit since we were there last:

Indeed! Over to you
Mon 14 Dec, 2020 9:32 pm
Thanks! After missing Chapman (I knew it looked familiar) and Lake Hanson (in my own backyard that I've spent oodles of time exploring

), I needed one like that. Next:

is that PW from the back?
Tue 15 Dec, 2020 7:28 pm
Indeed it is, Last. A friend wanted to explore that side, and come up to the PW/Achilles ridge from the west. I reckon there are much more worthwhile places to explore!
