Appears to be Manfred.
Little Hugel at back. You can even see the small tarn on the side if you enlarge.

This is so exciting! It's been ~ 5 years since I've posted a picture here!
Where was I trudging though this wet morass?

Wrong corner of the state.

The cut off rise on the right of the image leads to the summit of an Abel

There's something that looks like a gravel road winding through the centre, but that doesn't make sense (if you were heading for the Abel). It looks like dolerite, so I'm thinking the Abel is one of the Central Plateau congregation. Bogs near Abels ... Ironstone, Wild Dog, maybe Western Bluff from the Lake Mackenzie Rd ... meh, there are a lot of possibles but nothing that rings a bell.

That is dolerite, but I'm not on the central plateau. There are no gravel roads in the photo, but I am only a couple hours walk from one.

Apart from the trees on the right, it has a Ben Lomond feel to it..

You're cooking with gas now!

Trees imply Mensa Moor - but this view along Rafferty Creek with Coalmine Crag on the left suggests the RHS leads to Johnston Moor while Mensa Moor is behind the photographer.

That exactly right, your pattern recognition is better than my memory.

Possibly near Lake Sydney as well, though I can't remember those rock bands.

Thanks, Eggs.
Next one looks quite old but is actually from 2011 on a dodgy camera. Where are these walkers and what is the range immediately across the valley?

Well, that looks like the Jubilee Range, which would put your walkers somewhere on the Snowy Range ... guessing that they're maybe near Wetpants?
