Dome hill didn't have scrub when I was there, perhaps enroute to nereus if you ventured further west than my route?
Thu 25 Mar, 2021 5:55 pm
Never been there ILUV.

Bah. Ok I'll try high dome then I'm done..
Thu 25 Mar, 2021 6:43 pm
On the track to Oakleigh?
Thu 25 Mar, 2021 8:11 pm
Not High dome. Not the track to Oakleigh either but the closest so far

I had originally though it could be the old Forth River track, but the rise on the RHS seemed out of place - but perhaps on that track fairly close to the Old Pelion Hut?

There's more zoom than that

I thought someone would arm wrestle this off me by now?

Near Tarn of Islands? There is a view of PW from the low ridge on the southern side iirc.
Fri 26 Mar, 2021 8:18 am
other side of the arm
Fri 26 Mar, 2021 8:25 am
That puts you somewhere in the Walls? ... but with that angle on PW ... Rogoona?
Fri 26 Mar, 2021 9:11 am
The ridgeline view of PW is similar to the view from the Arm River track crossing of the Douglas Creek near New Pelion Hut.
It is tricky because everyone knows the long ridge runs east west, but this angle shrinks it to almost nothing and makes the back north running ridge look enormous.
So the photo is to the north from that track point.
The question is whether it was from the Arm River Track itself, which may be possible [but I cannot place my hands on a shot from the point where that track passes from a button grass section into the forest]
or whether it was from the alternative side track which heads towards the Pillinger turnoff?
I have not been on that side track and I have a sneeking suspicion that I might have seen PW briefly from that spot on the Arm River Track - so I will go with that as my guess.

We need to move on, eggs is close enough. I had come up the Arm River track and branched onto the old loop that leads to Pillinger. As I neared the saddle at the bottom of the Pillinger ascent this unexpected view of PW appeared.

So I was dreaming.
Lets try another zoom shot - better get your maps out...

Could be, Chimaera and Hippogriff behind. But I don't recall see open ground that close to the lakeshore ...
Sat 27 Mar, 2021 12:37 pm
Yes, I thought the leech ridden campsites were further from the "lake". It looks dispiriting enough to be Dixon though.
Sat 27 Mar, 2021 1:54 pm
Not Dixon nor those abels

Lake KW with Hobhouse??

Not there tortie. Both bumps are named
Mon 29 Mar, 2021 5:37 pm
Let's get the obvious ones out of the way first. Is this back at Shadow or Forgotten (not that I can make sense of those bumps if it is)?

Not the obvious ones, shadow or forgotten.
