I think nnw went bush. Shame, she knows that area. Soooooo Holloway? Somebody else have a stab, or this could take a while.

Close enough. I'm heading for Mt Norfolk, on the horizon. Mt Holloway is to the right in this pic. Christmas Bells in the foreground.

Thanks, Last. Looks like pretty nice walking. I'll get there one day.
Hopefully this will be an easy one.

Bit of zoom.
Visited by thousands each year...

Thanks, Norts.

Thanks Tortoise.
Where was I earlier this month.
Tue 28 Dec, 2021 12:51 pm
No guesses so I had better give a clue. the range I am on and the one in view are both named.
Tue 28 Dec, 2021 1:13 pm
Maybe SW Cape range looking at Pasco range
Tue 28 Dec, 2021 4:21 pm
You're very close Wobbly, it is the other way around so I reckon it's your go.
Tue 28 Dec, 2021 4:37 pm
Thanks Norts I admit to not being sure which was which - i have a similar pic but can't recall which of the two ranges it was taken on.
I'm going to be offline for a few days so anyone can go.

I'm struggling with this, Wobbly. I think we're looking at Ossa from the vaguely south-ish, but the foreground reminds me of areas north of Ossa. Am I in the right part of the state??

Surely if that was Ossa you'd see something recognisable of at least one of the nearby peaks - Paddys, Pelion East, Thetis, something ...
It looks like dolerite, but that sloping round hilltop and its low, scraggly guardian cliffline are distinctive yet they don't ring any bells. I'm totally lost (not for the first time).

Yeah, even considering zoom, I can't make it work.

I also wondered about way down south...
Sat 01 Jan, 2022 10:16 pm
That's what I'm thinking. It has a kind of southweswtish feel. But somewhere fairly obscure.

It's Gell in view folks

Are you telling us that he's on Cuvier and that is Coal Hill down there? Because if so, it's wrist-slitting time here - Coal Hill is the only possibility I could think of for that little lump, but it looked too unscrubby.
Sun 02 Jan, 2022 8:44 pm
Coal Hill is really not that bad from the Cuvier saddle. We went over it twice when we were there.
Different story heading down from it towards Petrarch
Sun 02 Jan, 2022 10:33 pm
Apologies for the tardy reply.
Yes it is from the southern flank of Culvier looking over Coal hill with Gell in the distance. So It's over to NNW i think.
cheers (oh and eggs i'll swap your down to Petrach for our up from Petrach any day)
Mon 03 Jan, 2022 7:39 am
I obviously followed the exact wrong line climbing up it, then. Come to think of it, it wasn't that bad on the way back, but it's often the mistakes you remember best.
And it really should be eggs' turn again as I'd never have gotten there without his hint but I'll take it anyway.
Where did I recently get back into peakbagging?

Wylds Craig?

This is a somewhat more mundane peak. Not an Abel, for one thing.
Tue 04 Jan, 2022 5:58 am
But you can see a number of Abels from here, including one that's connected.

That was the previous photo and the next walk. So, that quarter of the island.

Funny; I keep telling myself to spend less time online and more out bush ...
