Thanks NNW. I saw heaps of fish rising at Lake Sally recently but sadly didn’t have my fly rod with me. Maybe Little Pine River would be worth a look.
This is from last Sunday. What mountain was I descending?

Yes, this was coming down off Mt Picton.

One of my favourite daywalks that one, even if I've only made the top once in 4 attempts because of weather

Hmm. I thought folks would at least have had a go by now. There's a classic Abel clearly in view, with a neighbouring one giving a good indication of the direction to look in. There's another one kinda hiding in the trees. We're approaching the base of a 4th, which has a nasty reputation, but is actually a nice walk in good conditions, unless you find a lot more scrub than we did.

The two peaks at the back look like Castle Mtn and Eldon Bluff. You couldn't see them like that from the South Eldon Saddle and the terrain and vegetation look wrong for that anyway. It looks more like the country near Five Duck Tarn, but I don't recall getting that sort of view of those peaks from there and there is too much of the wrong sort of ridge in between anyway.
Another spot which looks like that is the buttongrass saddle south east of Nereus but, again, the ridge in front of Eldon Bluff (if that's what it is) causes problems because the knobblby bits on that ridge look like the Amphitheatre or possibly a weird angle on High Dome and now you see why I hate this game because we're probably not even in the Reserve.

For someone who reckons they're bad at this game, you sure get a lot right.
Yes to Castle Mt and Eldon Bluff. Yes to the buttongrass saddle SE of Nereus. Problem with knobbly bits? I reckon the quality of the image is too poor to even figure out what's in front of what.

Well, you see, that's the other major problem: it's like left/right - on the odd occasion I get it right I second-guess myself into being sure it's wrong.

You have about five hours to get this before I head out. If it hasn't gone off by then, anyone who wants to post a shot may take over.

Well first thoughts are a boardwalk track on a shelf - at Mt Field heading for the Tarn Shelf?
But I haven't tried to work out the background yet.

You're in the right quadrant of the island, eggs, but you really need to have a goood look at the background, because that's what gives it away.

It was hard to think where else a boardwalk might be - not familiar with the Wellington Range.
But I am hoping to visit Sara Jane soon, and looking at recent satellite images - it appears there is a board walk there now - on the track around it.

As promised, NNW is gone tramping.
I am sure this is a view from the slopes of Sarah Jane - Mt Weld poking through at back.
So next one - there is some zoom in this, but where am I?:

Is that the Lake St Clair monster showing itself to the right?
Tue 14 Feb, 2023 12:03 pm
Just a rock - but where am I - a little more precisely.
Tue 14 Feb, 2023 12:14 pm
Probably the Frankland Beaches
Tue 14 Feb, 2023 1:22 pm
That is about right.

It was, but that duckboarding is more than ten years old. Must be a while since you were last in that area.

I have been on the Anne massif 5 times, and Schnells 3 times, but never been back to Sarah Jane.
Hopefully this next trip.
