Coŕrect Greg - Handley Page Victor XL 231 is configured as a tanker and is a veteran of the Gulf War and the Falklands and currently resides at Elvington. Well worth a visit if you are in the vicinity, not far from York. Over to you.

It's more years than I care to remember since we visited that spot. Judging by the crowd, was her/his majesty in residence?

Well John, Interesting answer...quite cryptic. I suspect your expecting leniency if not sympathy due to your plight. Aw shucks, I'm a softy at heart, you can go next.
As for your question Vicky was there in the background, but Liz stayed inside, whilst the rest of us watched the changing of the guard.
all yours.

Thank you Greg, camaraderie of the walking wounded

. Being ever present during my entire life part of me thinks Liz is still with us. For your generosity I'll make it easy. NZ:

Thanks johnw.
This one is in Europe. The photo might not be enough to produce a winner; if so I can post another photo tomorrow. In any case, I just need the general location.
The tent is pitched "fly only", which might give you some clue as to the climate.

I don't know where it is but I'm assuming you're probably there in the warmer months. Let's kick off with the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees and go from there.

I wonder if you might be on Corsica
Tue 14 Nov, 2023 11:10 pm
Yes wobbly, it's Corsica, that's good enough for me. I was on the GR-20 with others from Sydney and Canberra. It's a pity that many of us got very sick during the trip, as did lots of other walkers on the GR-20.

The spot i am standing could be in India but I'm actually in France looking across a deep valley to a very impressively sited Abbey and behind it the highest mountain (the one at the back with snow) in the region. Name any or all three for the win.

JohnW has it.
I'm on Tour De Goa looking towards Abbye Saint Martin du Canigou with Mt Canigou itself being the Mtn behind it.

Thanks wobbly. Name this lookout, or the waterway below. Canada:

Not Crooked River. The verbatim answer is contained in one of the words of my quoted post.

Maligne River? What did the river do to deserve a name like that?

French word for malignant or wicked, due to the turbulent waters apparently.
Anyway I'm at Maligne Overlook with views of Maligne Lake, River etc. Very picturesque despite the name.

So the river has been maligned?

A bascule type bridge and a deeply cut canal ? Are you in Canada still, perhaps Quebec, by the way that man's holding his hands. Niagra bypass ?
Sat 25 Nov, 2023 12:06 pm
Not a bridge nor a canal. Not at Niagara, nor in Quebec or Canada. Is that a Quebecan way of holding ones hands? It's actually me. I should have said Europe when I posted and will edit.
