Is that Ooze Lake? Maybe from Maxwell Ridge or there about?
Fri 17 Nov, 2023 7:30 pm
Or contouring Mt Victoria Cross before the climb up it?

Picton?

It reminds me of Emily Tarn and little Arthur Tarn below. Are you on Hartz Peak, or maybe the saddle between Hartz and Snowy?
Tue 21 Nov, 2023 11:58 am
Yes John. Looking down from Hartz before we continued on to Mt Snowy.
Tue 21 Nov, 2023 1:47 pm
Thanks Graham. I've climbed Mt Snowy via the tarns below but not across from Hartz.

is it from Adamsons looking towards The Boomerang

Much closer but no. I could possibly see Adamsons from here in clearer conditions.

Getting further away in the opposite direction.

I'm not far from Graham's previous photo. I mean really not far.

It is from Mt Snowy, looking at The Boomerang, or to be more technically correct, looking at the clouds in front of The Boomerang. I have a very similar picture, clouds and all.
I found your responses to guesses a little misleading

You WOULD be able to see Adamsons in clearer conditions

Snowy South is (roughly) in the correct direction from the previous guess (Adamsons) but way too far
You kept me guessing!

I'm being a bit cheeky with this one Last

. You are the closest and I'm happy to award it to you as it is very close, but I'm not on Mt Snowy.
If I turn a bit it's just across the saddle from me. Sorry, I couldn't recall whether I would or wouldn't see Adamsons from my position or if Esperance may obscure it.
My visits are not frequent enough to be 100% certain of what's visible from where in all conditions and I have way too many photos to investigate all of them.
Anyway I'm on Hartz Peak, probably only a metre or two from the last photo.
I was curious to see if anyone would pick it up with less obvious clues in the photo. Over to you.

No bites. It looks vaguely like Lake Osborne.
Thu 23 Nov, 2023 7:14 pm
Also vaguely looks like Oberon looking roughly SW…
Thu 23 Nov, 2023 7:50 pm
no to both. Osborne is much closer than Oberon. I see what you mean about it looking Oberonish though.
