Can you explain how? I spent a while trying to work it out. I'm assuming 2 cars seating 5 each, and a party of 6-8 hikers. I came up with:
1. Drive a car to each end.
2. Drop people at the start and drive that car to the end.
3. Collect those people, drive to the start, leaving a car.
4. Hike
5. Drive 4 people to the start.
6. One car drives home
7. Drive back to the end, to get the other people
8. That car drives home.
That's 4 extra crossings (8-10 hours).
If you have 2-5 hikers (or two cars that can fit everyone), you can do:
1. Drive both cars to the end.
2. Everyone piles into one car, drive to the start.
3. Hike.
4. Everyone piles into the other car, drive to the start.
5. Split up and drive home.
That's 2 extra crossings (4-5 hours).
