That's it, IDP!

I'm at the summit of Mt Stokes, looking over Bramble Cove, the Breaksea Islands, and beyond.
I paddled a packraft (of all things) from Melaleuca for a week exploring and walking the hills around Bathurst Harbour and Port Davey.
Over to you --->

Thank you MH
That view is so beautiful, I am jealous.
I have been to Spain Bay, which I think is visible in your photo. The logistics of bringing kayaks from interstate seem a little difficult for me, though would love to paddle around Bathurst Harbour one day - looks stunning.
Next, where am I looking at this well-known feature (and the well-known mountain to its immediate left)?

Yes, that's why I was in a packraft. Possibly the most unsuitable vessel for an adventure of this nature, but one you can send on a light plane to the area. It turned out to be an excellent week.
I think I know exactly where your new picture is. I'll try to sit on my hands and let someone else have a go, but I'm excited because I'm planning my Christmas trip to this area!

I thought that was Coronation Peak so I did a search and found an almost identical picture won the photo competition in 2011. Is it called The Rock Dragon?

That’s it
I’m on Tribulation Ridge looking at Coronation Peak

There are some impressive outcrops there.
Where was I sitting here?

Very old. Lake Spicer Track , north of Walford?

Yes - we were accessing the Tyndall range by the ridge next to Rolleston.
The Anthony Road had recently been built.
Lake Plimsoll would dominate this view today.

Oops, I forgot about this. Sorry.

Travellers Rest Lake?
Fri 27 Jun, 2025 2:35 pm
You're not a million miles away, but no. There is a track most of the way here.
Fri 27 Jun, 2025 5:30 pm
Is it Travellers Rest Lagoon?
Fri 27 Jun, 2025 6:05 pm
or maybe Lake Youd?

Johnsons Lagoon?

And, inevitably, eggs gets it.

Nothing inevitable about that.
It had to be relatively flat nearby with lots of reeds near a track but not on a track.
Lucky to find it using maps & satellite imagery.
Lets try another old slide

Mt Oakleigh?
Sat 28 Jun, 2025 2:12 pm
King David's Peak?
Very cool slide
Sat 28 Jun, 2025 3:50 pm
Yes - this is from King David's Peak [only known as the Western Wall when we climbed it]

Thanks eggs

That's very interesting; it's a special place.
The next one shouldn't be too hard..
