Sorry for the delay, other guesses were close but Melinda has it. I'm about 3/4 of the way down the Badgerys Spur track. Over to you.

Out walking in one of my beloved areas one long weekend and NP's decided it was time for a burn off not too far away. Added a certain atmosphere .....
Name the two high points that I am looking at?

- Axeheads & Bull Island in Kanangra Boyd NP, NSW

The one at the back looks like Pigeon House Mountain, Mel, but I've never seen it from the rear.
I'd imagine it's in the Kanangra region somewhere, but I've not seen this one

Hi Eddie,
'Kanangra region' is near by.
If fact, the Kanangra topo is directly above this one.

Axehead Mountain and Bull Island Peak?

That's what I was thinking.

Hi Johnw,
Definitely the Axeheads and Bull Island.
(I'm just not sure whether it is Bull Island Peak or Bull Island Mtn myself!
Think it is Bull Island Mtn.)
Photo was taken about 3 or 4 years ago when NP was burning off around Guouogang and the Gangerangs.
It was amazing to camp on top of the Axeheads and watch all the ridges burning on the other side of the Kowmung!
(Hoping that NP really had it under control, and the wind didn't change direction!

)
Anyway over to you!

Hi Melinda, I have to admit the closest I've been to there is Yerranderie so, while it kinda looked familiar, it took a bit of research.
Initially I thought Yerranderie Peak was in the shot but the view didn't fit. Spectacular country around that part of the world.
One of these days I'm going to do some proper walking in Kanangra/Southern Blueys

.
Another one in NSW (I'll try and find a shot outside NSW next time I have a turn), where is this?

- Heading downstream through the boulder choke in Bungonia Slot Canyon - Bungonia NP NSW

Has to be Bungonia canyon???
Mon 25 Apr, 2011 9:01 pm
I thought the same when I saw the photo, Mel.
The boulders put it at the junction of the creek and the Shoalhaven, in the vicinity of the quarry.
I used to go down then up the canyon walls on a single rope when I was young and silly (and my back could take it.)
Cheers,
eddie

Melinda has it. I'm at the boulder choke inside Bungonia Slot Canyon itself. Sorry Eddie, not near the junction of Bungonia Ck and Shoalhaven R. I am heading in that direction but it's about 2.5 km from here. The quarry is closer; the quarry blasting sign at the Red Track exit is about 1 km downstream from me. There were fixed ropes on the canyon wall when I did this trip several years ago. All yours Melinda.

Hi Johnw,
Led a walk thru there last weekend!
So I should have recognized it.
(We also found a great geocache at the junction of the creek and river!)
Ok, so the next photo is an easy one.
On a hot summer's day, this is the most fun place to be!

Hi michael-p,
Definitely the Wollongambe.
They usually give this section a specific number???
Would you like to take a guess at that number???
Melinda
(Although you have already guessed the river.)
Tue 26 Apr, 2011 10:54 pm
Haven't got a clue what number this is. Sorry.
Tue 26 Apr, 2011 11:14 pm
Go on michael p, say one!
Wed 27 Apr, 2011 6:58 am
Wollangambe One perhaps?
Wed 27 Apr, 2011 9:02 am
Hi Michael_p,
Yeap, we are floating down the section of the Wollongambe that is commonly known as 'Wollongambe One' or the 'tourist section'.
A pretty easy and relaxing trip on a hot summer day.
Over to you,
Melinda

Thanks Melinda.
Location: NSW.
This should be an easy one. Name this feature:

- Profile Rock, Budawangs. Photo taken from the Canowie Brook track.

Splendour Rock from below?
Wed 27 Apr, 2011 1:54 pm
No, not Splendour Rock.
Wed 27 Apr, 2011 2:03 pm
Is it a Blue Mtns location?

No.

It looks like the valley north of Lithgow on to Mudgee - Stone colour and vegetation look right to me for this location - somewhere around Capertee.
I'm having a brainfade, can't remember the name of the valley for the life of me, and I've got two screaming kids in the background, one doing homework and dinner underway. Not going to cheat by looking on google, if the name comes back I''ll post it later.
It might be even further north - Wollemi region?
Still no idea of the name of the feature, however.
Cheers,
eddie

Terrain is looking very Budawang-ish!
Wed 27 Apr, 2011 8:07 pm
Yes it does. Could it look like that for a reason.
Wed 27 Apr, 2011 8:20 pm
So a guess, because I've only been thru there once: Profile Rock???
