cross country skiing

Postby beltas » Tue 12 Jul, 2011 8:34 am

Hi all

great forum to stumble across! I have just returned home from the French Alps and I am keen to return to some of my beloved Tassie nature. I understand there has been heaps of snow in cradle. Does anyone know of the possibility of walking into Scott Kilvet hut? or to cross country ski parts of it?

Thanks!
Bel :)

3 days ago I walked back from Scott Kilvert hut. Below 950m the snow was melting, above that there was 60+cm of dry snow. I walked the Face track and had a wonderful amount of white stuff.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

You'll be right unless you're a big softie. One of my mates went to the summit yesterday.

Wes Moule was up skiing on the plateau under a full moon last night, would have been amazing but I was stuck at work.
OT, we saw a spotty dragging a half dead pademelon through the snow. Best wildlife experience ever.

I was very jealsous. I've been in the park for about 6 years now and Friday was THE BEST day ever. At 7:00pm the moon was so bright and the lake so still that you could see the perfect white reflection of the Mt. I've never seen anything like it up here.
