Hey guys i want to start a small dehyd/ bushwalk food business from home (im still at school so i could use the money and burn some spare time) my outdoor ed teacher has some great recipes and ive got a couple of ideas (combined with online stuff ill have the whole recipe thing covered), my whole aim is to make food that is more filling, tastes better, is better for you and is cheaper than brands such as backpackers pantry, backcountry cuisine etc. Does anyone know where i can source foil pouches from for the food ? Also responses on recipe ideas are greatly appreciated, and yes at the moment it is still a pipe dream but who knows? Cheers, matt.

You will have to be a bit careful Matt. The health dept here in WA are very strict. You can't make anything at home for sale other than cakes etc and jams. Your kitchen would have to passed as well by your local council.
Anything that is "high risk" needs to be made in a commercial kitchen. Maybe your school kitchen might be worth asking, or do you know a friendly restaurateur that might lend you their kitchen on their day off. You still need a food licence.
Good luck I'll try your food once you get going.
PM me if you want. I know a lot about this topic.

Hi Matt, good luck in your aims. Tinderry foods (who I liked a lot !) have recently closed - maybe contact them
http://www.tinderrytucker.com.au/ and introduce yourself and ask ? There are a number of suppliers of food grade plastics.

Good luck Matt,
Let me know when you get there and we will check it out.
Marketing is your next big hurdle. Give me a yell anytime to help out, I play around with it a bit sometimes.
