Cathedral Circuit

Here's a few (to many) shots from a four day hike I did last week. We basically did a circuit of the Cathedral Plateau - Lake Bill Track - Junction Lake - Never Never - Kia Ora - Pelion - Reedy Lake Track - Lees Paddocks Track. We were originally going to do the KO-LP track but decided not too after seeing the amount of water in KO Creek. We were also pretty keen to check out the snow in Pinestone Valley

All shots are chronological, to give you a bit of an idea of how the weather changed during the trip! I've never seen a late summer snowfall like this...

Great photos and looks like an awesome trip, looks better in the snow than in the summer! How was the Mersey still easy enough to cross? Looks to be a bit more water than I've seen up there.

How was the Wurragarra Creek crossing did you find the bridge ?

How was the Mersey still easy enough to cross? Looks to be a bit more water than I've seen up there.

We crossed above Hartnett (about 100m above the falls) and it was pretty borderline - I wouldn't have wanted any more water coming down. As a last resort we were planning to use the rock-bridge below Fergusson Falls.

How was the Wurragarra Creek crossing did you find the bridge ?

Was that you guys? Wurragarra Creek was fine - we found and used the bridge (thanks, don't know how I haven't seen it before ) but the Creek itself would have been ok. I don't think enough of the snow had melted for it to be in full swing...

Yep! We actually had a bit of a nervous moment when we got to the OLT and found that my walking partner's pack liner had been holed and her sleeping bag was literally dripping wet... Very lucky that we could grab a spare from one of the work huts

Lucky escape then - the gods were smiling on you. And this is why we double bag our gear - i.e. a pack liner & individual waterproofing for sleeping bags, clothes etc. But I'm sure I'm telling you how to suck eggs
