Zamberlan Venus GTX. Ladies 9. Purchased as a present from my folks. Torn to sell but already have leather boots worn in. Not too heavy for a boot and would suit a normal to narrow foot. $120 delivered in oz

Damn it. Apologies but the forum shuffled the images. The colourful ones are the New Balance and the light brown and green the Zamberlans

Next pair are the Ahnu Montara in a 9. The most comfortable boot I've ever owned. These are eVent lined and breathe very well. Apologies for the stain on the inside (its been washed but won't come out). I unfortunately had a happy leech there one day (sorry gross I know but Im being honest :-) $70 delivered in Oz

No sweat. I wasn't sure whether you'd seen my comment in your post or not. Hope they work out well for your feet/orthotics. You'll love them. They are so comfy. Id love to keep them but since moving up here I seem to be doing lots of stuff on really slippery creek beds and muddy rainforest etc (though we've had a lot drier weather of late). My knee was recon'd a couple of years ago and I've had to chose between the uber comfy Ahnu's or the grippier tevas. Knee prefers grip :-( (and hates to slip)

Ha! Yes. I never used to. I only ever had two. One for lightweight day walk stuff and my heavy duty boots. Since moving (and knee) I seem to have a bee in my bonet trying to strike some magical balance and find this 'perfect' can-do it all shoe. I've stopped now

Hi WTYD, I'm wondering about size...I take a Euro 42 (in Scarpa), my size 7 (men's ) volleys are a bit snug and size 8 a little roomy. My foot is on the narrow side. I think Zam's are narrow? Not being able to try on the boots I wonder what you think? How are each on weight? Love the colour of the New Balance! and can fully understand how you got to have so many boots...
We'll get fit on the way.

Hmmm. That's a tough one as I've had three pairs of scarpas over the years and all three were different sizes (40,41&42) so I've not found their sizing to be all that consistent. Yes the zamberlans are the narrowest but they are fine on my foot (fairly normal). Ill measure the inner sole lengths and also weigh both pairs for you :-)

Edit: both are identical 26cm (which works as Im a 9). Where the difference in fit is the Zamberlans have a narrow but tall toe box that doesn't taper till the end vs the the new balance are wide enough at the metatarsal head, though taper earlier at the toes. The NB fit me fine length wise for day in day out, but sliding forward on a down hill id prefer that extra half a size in the toes as I catch my pinky toe (hope that explains it).
As for weight the Zamberlans are 1100g for the pair and the NB are 820g on my little scales.

Hmm. The photos don't show it well but its more distinct when looking at them.
Either way id be happy to accept a return if you weren't happy. Im sure they'll sell eventually :-)

Thanks Bluegum, I think I may be a size too big for 'em. My foot measures 26cm...
