Teepees, Gurs/Yurts and other Alternative Dwellings

Does anyone here live in an alternative dwelling?
I am exploring my options and am interested in some first hand experiences and insights.
Permanent structures are not my style, unless it is a cave, but I'm starting to look for something a little more comfortable than a tent or vehicle.

A friend of mine bought a yurt and has it on his property, only the 3.6 hex one, he had it built over his huge concrete water storage tank to cover up the unsightly top. Looks like an over grown cubby house but can tell you its so well made, comes all in panel sections walls and roof and can be dismantled and put up else where if needed. Many other sizes available with extras you can add on. He got his from the Yurts Works at Goulburn. This is the one he bought http://www.yurtworks.com.au/3.6yurt.htm many other designs on the site.

Not what I expected but they look very cozy. Would make a great tree house

Not quite on thread here, but if you're in the Latrobe region, check out a gong session at The Quiet Cone. It's rather nice. Kind of a giant teeepee (but a permanent structure)

Thanks for mentioning it. It looks wonderful. I'll be finishing the walk around Tassie in Devonport so I think this will be the perfect reward. I have heard of sound therapy teepees before so this should be good.

I'm glad the topic was bounced up because I completely forgot to call the yurt guy in Cygnet
