Shoalhaven area books or info

Postby climberman » Tue 29 Jan, 2013 4:55 pm

Hi, I've een looking at some possible walks west of Tallowa, south of the Shoalhaven, north of the Nowra - Nerriga Rd. Mainly towards the E end of this stretch, rather than the W (Endrick) end.

Are there any books which cover this area, or websites or maps of interest ? Anything showing passes down to the Shoalhaven would be great too, as I'm considering packrafting out.

Thanks in advance, Jules

I agree with Tom Brennan, but have not ever seen much else on offer.

There is an article in Wild Magazine from 2006 which gives details of a 4 day circuit walk through the area.

I know a lot of the passes from many trips into the area and would be happy to share if you want info generally.

It is one of the real gems for bushwalking that is overlooked by the large majority of Sydney/Camberra/South Coast walkers. There is some exceptionally good lilo (and also packrafting) possibilities through the area.

Thanks tom_brennan and clarence.

I have the bushwalking in the Budawangs, and will end up with Pigeon House and beyond (a veritable classic by all accounts).

clarence - I was vaguely thinking of using my pack raft - paddling over from the Tallowa dam parking area to the Shoalhaven arm to the west, and ridgetop walking to a pass, then paddling back. Am happy with rock scrambles. Google earth hints at some tracks along near Gunmarl saddle and the like. Any ideas ? Happy to share off board or via PM if preferred.
