[SOLD] MSR Dragonfly, fuel bottle and billy

Once an item is sold, found or thread is no longer needed we move it here. These maybe helpful for historic reasons.

[SOLD] MSR Dragonfly, fuel bottle and billy

Postby JoshT » Tue 05 Mar, 2013 9:11 pm

Continuing with the having a baby clean out sale, here is my MSR Dragonfly portable fuel stove. I bought this new about 6 years ago, has been used maybe 10 times since then, and I've decided it's unnecessary for the kind of cooking I do.

Sale also includes MSR fuel bottle, and a stainless steel billy with nesting top plate which fits the whole stove and parts inside. Dragonfly stove comes as in the retail pack, with pump, windshields, instructions and maintenance kit. The model is very similar to the current one, comes with a plastic fuel pump, but a different colour to the new ones.

The stove itself is in good condition, a bit of discolouration from use but no rust. Works perfectly, shaker valve shakes, all hinges move freely and hose is in good condition. I've only ever used the stove with Shellite. I've maintained the stove and pump according to the instructions, and everything looks to be in good working order, o-rings and pump cap are soft and rubbery.

$160 Pick-up in Parramatta or Sydney CBD (or I could drop off somewhere in between), will fill the fuel bottle with shellite for local sale. I'll post at cost, but will empty out the fuel bottle first.

Is this one of the models that can run on Kero, Unleaded fuel and shellite?

Yes that's right, the stove comes with two jets for different fuels. The jet installed currently is for white gas/shellite and unleaded petrol. The maintenance kit has the second jet which is for kerosene/jet fuel and diesel. It's a fairly straightforward switch.

I might be interested, but I'm not sure, might be a bit to high for what I want to use it for. I'm waiting on a Backpacking Oven, which should arrive on Monday. I need to check if it will fit first. The price is more than what I would want to pay.

great stove, absolutely bombproof, and burns anything, and the simmer control is superb. Yeah it's not as light as some other stoves, but with MSR you get superb quality, reliability and totally field maintainable - a huge bonus. I've had stove fail before, but have used MSR stoves for 30 years. I've used the dragonfly in -50c in the Arctic - worked flawlessly, just had to use priming paste, and replace saliva to lubricate the plunger cup with cold temp viscosity oil. Even the o-rings survived. This is a bargain, someone should snap this up!

I've done my research this stove will work with my Bemco Oven. Is the stove still available?
