Tarp & Bivy wanted

Postby Solohike74 » Wed 17 Apr, 2013 2:34 pm

Thought I'd try my luck, looking for a bargain on a tarp &/or bivy. Bivy would be the kind you'd use either as a standalone or under a tarp.

It'll just be me under the tarp, should be about 10' long or so, and around 6' wide. Ideally there'll be several tie points & at least a couple of web points for guy rope attachment. Bivy is mainly for bugs, if don't get anything on here I'm looking at Borah for my bivy when ready & Bear Paw Designs for the tarp. If buying new at full price I'd buy silnylon only. I have tyvek I use already to make a floor.
I am a gram counter.

I'm still interested in bivy, either all mesh or a waterproof sleeping bag cover with opening for face.

I was looking round for tarps here as peoples needs change some try tarp camping & decide they don't like it, couldn't find much of a bargain. I'm open to bargain tarps in future, but decided to order a 6x9 ft from Bear Paw Designs in 30d, silny weight lon. It's 9oz less than any other tarp recently offered here, is new and doesn't really cost me more than what others were asking.

I'll post pics & review it after I use it.

Thanks but considering its weight & price, I'm considering going lighter. If the price drops, I may consider it again.

4oz for a silnylon tarp? How is this even possible for 30D?

I meant to say, the bear paw tarp weighs 9 ounces in itself, not being 9 oz less than something else.
