Funny you should mention it. I did that walk nearly a year back with the same two guys as this ledging trip (http://fatcanyoners.org/2012/07/08/mt-solitary-passes/)
I think the photo below is the ledge you're talking about. It is indeed quite unnerving. Interestingly it's the exact same layer of shale (Mt York Claystone) as the ledge under Mt Banks that we followed.
