The Cascades.

Postby kanangra » Wed 11 Dec, 2013 1:12 pm

I visited this spot this morning. Located at the junction of Frenchs Ck and Middle Harbour Ck. it is well worth a visit. I came in via the firetrail off Kitchener St. in St. Ives and went out via the Cascade track off Cambourne Ave. ( There is a Garigal NP sign and a Harbour to Hawkesbury sign here.) Each creek is crossed by a concrete causeway on aproach and then the area really opens out at the junction. There are large rock slabs and pools on both creeks both above and below the cascades. From here a foottrack continues down Middle Harbour Ck. Surrounded by pleasant bush the area is, surprisingly, not badly degraded. very pleasant indeed.

Was there supposed to be a picture included? Thanks for the info. Cheers, Ian

Next time you are down that way, continue on the track that follows Middle Harbour Creek downstream from the Cascades to the pipeline. It is a very pretty stretch of bush
