Snow shoe trip To Mt Twynam

Postby Tony » Sun 28 Jun, 2009 8:29 am

Some pics from my Snow shoe trip yesterday to Mt Twynam, Mainland Australias third highest peak 2196 metres. We had planned to stay the night up top somewhere, that is why our packs are big but the very thick low cloud and that it was raining lower down we decided to leave it for another day.

Looks like an enjoyable trip Tony, the photos show the conditions nicely.

Small world...I think I may have seen you walking in. A friend and I were one the way into Blue Lake to do some climbing, saw 2 ppl headed up that way not far past the bridge near Illawong. We had walked in late the previous evening to just near the hut with the aim of getting plenty of time on the ice, but ruined our chances of that by indulging in a wee sleep in and a lazy pack-up on saturday morning. It would have been around 9.30 when we saw you I think?

Yes it was us, we had discussed following you and your friend to Blue Lake but decided to do Twynam instead. We car camped at Island Bend the night before to get an early start, the problem with car camping is that I tend bring too much grog.
