Leaving packs unnattended to summit Cradle

I am thinking there will be a lot of day walkers climbing Cradle when the weather is nice.

We want to summit Cradle this weekend (weather and time permitting) but we will have our full packs with us so we need to leave them and just take our summit packs. I am a little concerned about leaving our packs in this area?

Any tips, or suggestions?

I was thinking of padlocking them together (there will be at least 2 packs) but that won't stop people taking contents out. Am i worried about nothing?

Make sure there are no zips or pull chords exposed. The birds will open any zip and leave no stone unturned to get to food.

Yeah, just make sure your zips are safe from the currawongs! If you are super worried about other people in the area then I'd suggest walking your packs a little down towards Waterfall Valley (where few of the day walkers go) and just hid them slightly off the track. Have fun!

We are coming from that direction so good idea, that should eliminate 95% of the day walkers.

I've never worried about that or have had anything taken out of a closed pack. Had some food sitting out in the open in federation hut in vic that got pilfered by day walker. Nothing else has ever gone missing though from strangers, mates on the other hand have robbed my Timtams, lollies etc

LOL Thanks, I didn't think we would have too many troubles but just being cautious i suppose.

Keas do look really pretty and based on that I'd like to switch, but the rubber around my car windows convinces me that this is a bad idea....

Keas do look really pretty and based on that I'd like to switch, but the rubber around my car windows convinces me that this is a bad idea....

they can undo knots.. left alone with your gear, they can rip any fabric to shreds, recently they were videod fashioning a twig into a tool to set off stoat traps

They are such a solid bird too. We had one having a go at our windscreen wipers at Arthurs pass one time. I ran over to get it to move along and the damn thing stood its ground. Cheeky blighters. They are cute though

except when they start squaking around huts or start sliding down hut roofs early in the morning .... the arthurs pass cafe goes through a fortune in crockery...
