Where to buy Zebralight in Australia

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Where to buy Zebralight in Australia

Postby shehaal » Sat 06 Sep, 2014 9:27 pm

I need a new headlight after my old Princetec broke. It looks like Zebralight is quite popular around here, but I can't seem to find any Australian distributors (torchworld.com.au doesn't appear to stock them anymore). Has anyone recently bought one of these locally?

Thanks!

I bought a H52F a couple of weeks ago. Direct from the Zebralight website with the free postage option. Took two weeks to arrive.

Be aware that they won't run on alkalines so you will need good quality NiMH cells and a charger to suit.

Make sure you grab a glow in the dark lamp holder while you're there. So handy!

Congrats on the purchase. Beware, delivery time can be anywhere from 1-6weeks.

I've had packages from them take over 6 weeks (lights listed as in stock), but my last purchase from them using express mail took just 3 days to arrive on my door step (and this light was listed as on back order at the time too!). Fingers crossed your lights arrive sooner rather then later but just wanted you to know that sometimes their packages can take a fair while to arrive.

Travis.

For those on a tighter budget the Ultrafire UF-H2b will do a similar job for around 1/2 the price and it works with AA 's( albeit shorter life).
For small hand held you can also pick up an Ultrafire Q5 cree Zoomable for peanuts on line :)

What are the levels for the Ultrafire? IMO it is the low lows that are the real winner for Zebralight.

I am from the old school bright dull or dud, if my torch shines brightly it is good if it gets dull it is bad so replace battery, what on earth are low lows and why do we need them ??
And yes I can reduce output on my UF-H2b Ultrafire with a click.

You really don't need 900 lumens when you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet. That's where my Zebralight SC600 mkII's ability to go down to .02 lumen or moon mode comes in handy as it is extremely bright when you eyes aren't adjusted to the light.

IT is a pity if there are no more Australian sellers.

Buying from overseas is fine and zebralights are great, but their warranty support via China is terrible.

Agreed.

When I had a problem with my H51F Torchworld offered to replace it with a H52F. As the H52F had not yet been released, I opted for a refund instead so that I could purchase it myself when they came out. I am 99% certain I would not have received this level of service from Zebralight HQ.

I bought a H51 from zebralight 3 months before a trip away last year but 2 weeks out it still hadn't arrived:( I ended up buying a 'spark' brand head torch that was identical to the zebralight (and slightly cheaper), which arrived in 1 week. 2 months after I got back (7 months later!) the zebralight arrived. Still using the spark and it is great!

Yikes! That's a pretty ordinary delivery time!

Strider, I went with two H52F's. :) The Eneloop batteries and Maha C9000 charger arrived today. Needless to say the old Duracell $10 charger is going in the bin.

I am so far! The package finally turned up on Friday, it had a different tracking number to what they issued me, only one headlamp instead of two, the one they sent was the wrong model, and there wasn't any silicon holders! I sent them a message the same day but are yet to hear back.

I had to replace my zebralight (edit:)H51, I thought the new one (H52) was faulty:

Me: Your light is faulty, it seems to flash at regular intervals when turned off, pls advise an RMA
ZL: That is a feature to let you know the battery is drained

Zebralights: awesome
Zebralight's customer service: terrible

One out of 50 people will have something go wrong and have a frustrating time sorting it out. Everyone else will be happy.

Common feature in Cree lights I have one flashing on my desk at the moment to let me know the battery is very low and I will keep it going till it is fully discharged prior to re charging Sanyo eneloop battery.

I don't recall the H51 having such a 'feature'. It was almost perfect and even came with a fluro lamp holder standard accessory.

No the H51 did not have this feature. The GITD holder is $2.99 from the Zebralight website.

I just ordered a Spark ST 6 with a spare battery and charger from Torchworld. They did sell Zebralights at one stage. Have nothing good to say about ANY of those lenser things.

:) (thanks strider, i had started to doubt myself)

In all fairness, I should mention the email to Ultrafire:

Ultrafire, ...., the clip is in an awful place, trying to remove the screws from the clip (to remove the clip) seems to let loose a captured nut within the torch body (besides leaving a free hole). I can only assume there is a case earth attached with the trapped nut as the lamp now doesn't work..

UF: Ok, you can send it back and if found faulty we can offer you a new unit

Torchworld are excellent to deal with. David once gave me a refund on a ZL H51 in lieu of a warranty replacement so that I could get an H52 when it eventually came out. Fantastic service!
