The reason why I posted the shot was the fact that this is the reality of this thread!
I'm really not sorry you were offended by this because facts are facts and DEPI have a targeted trapping program such as this in areas where complaints from others as well as bushwalkers are frequent. This unfortunate dog was a casualty under such a program. The owner would be fined if the dog was chipped... but it's the horrible reality, as are dog attacks on farming stock and people.
I have come across wild dog packs with Bull Terriers in remote regions and let me tell you it's not fun when you are alone with curious growling dogs hanging around you at dusk!
Before the gun ban I used to carry a small folding stock Remington 22 rifle on remote walks for rabbits, ducks and security. These days for solo walkers with god knows what (panthers) released into the wild, personal protection is indeed again a serious consideration.
