Has anyone here sewn it and can comment on the degree of difficulty?
I am really not happy with any of my Long John purchases this season and think I need to make my own
Even at $45- landed for a couple of meters of fabric it is a bit cheaper than buying and then modifying a pair of powerstretch tights
Also and at the same time does anyone know of a mens capri tight pattern with a usable fly ??
The Patagonia boot cut I purchased are simply not going to work with my long legs as they only come to my knee and ride up and have a short rise which doesn't work well with ski pants [ at least for me]

no, but i'd imagine you'd have to overlock it, or use a zigzag stitch to stitch seams flat...

Flat stitches are the domain of a coverseamer I thought?

If it's a problem I can put the seams on the outside
I have very particular wants with my winter underwear and no-one is making the style that wore out last year, so I have to sew them myself

Moondog, always look at your posts with interest. I use Aldi merino tights for my back country skiing and bush walking. They are comfortable, warm and stay mostly dry and dry quickly when you are in your tent if they get damp. They are cheap, light and compact and come on sale a couple of times each year. They have no fly, but the waist band is so stretchy that it does not matter, so long as you leave enough time to find your willy in amongst all your layers of clothing. They wear and wash well and last for years, but I carry needle and thread to stop ladders (above and below the hole) if I stake them. I also make light nylon snow gaiters with no zips, that go over the top of my ski boots and on the top of the gaiters I sew on a tube of fibre pile as leg/knee warmers. Under cold conditions I can pull these up well past my knees an when I get hot I lower them down my leg where there is not much heat being generated. I also deploy while scrub bashing.

My Powerstretch has finally arrived from the USA so sometime between now and winters first trip I need to get these made.
I have looked at the Aldi stuff and while the tops are usually good the tights do not match my specific needs
