Thanks guys. Gees 3hr marathoner......no idea.
I've progressed from a bushwalker to trail runner in the last 18 or so months. Someday I'll have a lash at a road marathon but for now I'm still sticking to the dirt stuff with hills.
It's a great track and I really enjoyed the run/race.
Next year is calling me already for a solid hit out now I really know what I'm in for !!!
For now I'll stick to the trail running (I can do more with less time) but honestly I'm kinda impatient for my kids to grow up so a) I can take them bush with me b) they are a little less effort for my wife and I can get some multi day trips back in the schedule.
I'm really keen to get a fastpack of some type, like the Ultimate Direction one and smash out a few 50km days staying out overnight. All my UL gear is just gathering dust screaming for some real use.
Larapinta in 6 days is one goal and also a NZ trip to the south island again so I can rip out a whole walk a day for a week. I have thoughts of Kepler, Routeburn, Rees Dart and something else making a very tiring and tidy week trip. That would be awesome.
Believe it or not the better I get at my trail running I'm really starting to look around and smell the roses as such. As opposed to making sure I don't fall and concentrating on simple things....like breathing and not dying from heartlidge disorder.
A good walking / rogaining base has been a great launch into this silliness !!!
