@Erich, love the name Ethan. If we had another boy that was the name I had chosen. My girls are pretty energetic so I'm sure they can be crazy together.

I won't bother bringing up my Double Rainbow then given someone is already bringing...

Can't wait to leave. Should be up there mid morning. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I, unfortunately, will have to cancel my attendance.

I wish all participants a fabulous weekend, and look forward to the report next week!

It's all starting to happen, rain notwithstanding. Moondog in his element, and Cecile trying to stay dry, in the tent! Sim1oz is here with her family, so is davidM. Michael called by and dropped off fresh eggs. Cecile's daughter is coming later as well with her tadpoles. Kids rain snags and fairy lights!

Photos once we get home.

For those here interested in the Redwood Forest near Warburton here is the link to my YouTube video. The GPS coordinates for the entrance are in the description.

Yes, spare a thought for the hardy souls on Mt Franklin. I only live a stones throw from there and it is currently windy with steady rain and a balmy 9 degrees!

My wife and I were going to spend Sat night there but the horse we are looking after for a friend (in Ballan) had a problem with an eye the day before.
So we had planned to go to the paddock in the morning and carry on to Mt Franklin later on, but given the crappy weather on the way up we changed the plan to a day visit and back to the paddock in the afternoon when other horse owners are there. (in case we needed help)
As it turned out the horse's eye was better (I bathed the eye twice the day before) and it was SUNNY on Mt Franking when we left at 2:30PM .
Anyway the barley soup was great, nice to have a chat with a few members and have a look at some nice gear.
I liked in particular Moondog's Moss Wing tarp ( I had only seen the MSR version that I can remember..)
His 250g elephant foot was also pretty impressive. (great inner bag inside a synthetic quilt or bag , me thinks...)
Here is me setting up the Notch with Moondog :

Hi
sorry I missed you.
Odd that the term caldera originally meant something containing hot water or something hot....

Apologies from me. I was really looking forward to at least spending a night with everyone here however we are getting serious now about trying to buy a new house to suit our growing family thus the boss found a number of properties she wanted to inspect so we spent the weekend driving around in the rain looking at open's.

Hi Simone,
I already used that photo with your Hogback in a US forum for a guy that was asking about a "family" tent (two adults, two children)
Note the difference in the colour of the silnylon we use now.

BTW, I used Tarzan Grip to glue the top of my pegs, not Araldite.

I believe that technically the Mt Franklin bowl is simply a crater, a caldera is much much larger Yellowstone is a caldera

@Franco, thanks for verifying the glue type. Where can I see a photo of the new silnylon colour?

In my 10:37 am post in this thread, you can see the difference between your Hogback and my StratoSpire II.
Often with this type of fabric it's hard to reproduce the correct colour but that photo is very close to the real colour in that light.

Wow, now that you point it out Franco I can see the colour difference but I didn't notice it looking at them in situ on the weekend.
