TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Sleeping Bag/Quilt Inner-lining feel.

Firstly I'd just like to say thanks to all the contributors on this forum. I have been stalking around for the last couple of weeks trying to work out what gear I need to buy for a 7week trip (mostly tramping) through NZ this coming summer, and the information I have found here has been second to none. I have already purchased a Stratospire 2 and Thermarest Prolite Plus :)

After lots of searching through the forums I think I may have a somewhat unique query:

I am hyper-sensitive to the feel of materials, especially when I sleep. When I go travelling I take my own cotton sheets to Hostels as I cannot sleep on any sheets that are a polyester blend, they feel really 'clingy'. Thus, my dilemma with Bags/Quilts.

As a rule of thumb, generally, the 'shinier' the material to look at, the less comfortable I find it. I think it may have something to do with static build up???

I really had my heart set on getting a quilt, maybe a Jacks'R'Better Sierra Sniveller or an EE Revelation (I also sleep super hot so quilts seem to be the best option), but as I cannot try these out in Aus I am afraid of ordering them without knowing if I can stand the inner-lining. So far the sleeping bag that I like the feel of is the S2S Trek I, according to the website this material is "40D soft touch Nylon, 310T
high density down proof weave, 34 fillament soft touch hand feel". I don't think this material is available in any other sleep system let alone a quilt :(

If anyone has any comments on how any of their bags/quilts feel, or if anyone has suggestions on a retailer or type of material I might like, or even how I might be able to find out the 'feel' of more materials I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again!!!
