Grey Mtn

Postby ILUVSWTAS » Mon 12 Oct, 2009 12:37 pm

Went for a wander up to Grey Mtn today. Parked 6k's away and walked the road. Would be easy on a bike or easier in a 4wd....
Took 3n half hrs to do the 18.4k's.

AMAZING views, if not a bit distant I could see Adamsons, Hartz, Laperouse, Pindars and PB. Fedders and Hopetoun. Picton, Riveaux and the WA
Weld and Anne, the Snowies Mt Field and of course Wellington range.

The pics arent speccy or anything just to show the amazing views to be had so close to Hobart!! Oh and there was a buttongrass plain too, all within yelling distance of Hobart!

Hey did you go from the Margate road? Van Morey I think... I Haven't been that far along the road due to its condition. Is there a walking track that takes you up there at some point along the road? And if so, how far along the road?

Cheers

Yup from Van Morey.
Theres a road that takes you up the Road. As in a Road all the way to the top. 4wd'ing would be easy, well theres a locked gate 500mtrs from the towers. Only took 3 and a half hrs return to the top walking from Van Morey tho

Cool spot, I got lost in the tracks up there looking for access to the top of Pelverata Falls
Have to try again and do Grey on the same trip. :)
