Interesting Signs in the wilderness.

This one is from Småland, in southern Sweden. The closest reindeer was 500 km north. The caption is, "indoors as well".

Actually the sign may not be legal. As far as I'm aware, under all Australian jurisdictions there must be two signs delineating the extent of the NSAT (No Standing Any Time) or similar restricted areas. These signs are usually at a maximum of 200 (two hundred) metres and the NSAT cannot cross intersections within the meaning of the Road Safety Act, RS Regulations, or local equivilant. On balance of probability the sign has no effect at law.

Apart from that, LOL.

Horse-sized wombats - not at all! The area is inhabited by very small horses and leprechauns. A conventional horse is easy to see, but the tiny ones blend in. This is why the sign was put up.

This sign is near the entrance to Manu National Park, in the Amazon rainforest of Peru. Roughly translated, it says:

WARNING!
TRANSIT ZONE FOR UNCONTACTED INDIGENOUS PEOPLE

AVOID CONFLICTS:
Do not deliberately make contact.
Don't give clothes, food, equipment or anything else.
Don't take photographs (they may interpret the camera as a weapon).

In cases of contact, advise the Ministry of Culture.

Ribuck, there's a similar sign where the Mount Twynum track veers right and up to the summit and the track to Tate goes left and down. The sign warns day trippers about bushwalkers. I cannot recall what language is used.

It's a few years since I walked along there, but it sticks in my mind that what the sign really says is a warning to Day Trippers to not go any further unless they are experienced walkers equipped for overnight. Which does of course make sense.

Me, I like the sign which used to be at Blue Lake Saddle: "If lost, wait here." Is it still there?

I love tresspasers will be shot signs. In the southern highlands, shoulhaven, nowra areas. They are literal and I obey

"Trespassers will be shot. Survivors will be shot again."

Some do it a little differently (seen this variation in a number of places, mainly Victoria's high country):

NO TRESPASSING
SURVIVORS WILL BE PROSECUTED

I like the subtlety and ambiguity of leaving you to work out exactly what you may have to survive in order to achieve prosecution.
