OK, this was from a few weeks ago, our Tasair pilot took us out past SW cape, up the coast a bit, then up over SW Cape Range etc and down into Melaleuca. My photo was indeed from the plane, as we were coming in towards Melaleuca, the bits in the photo have been named already, most significantly looking at Cox Bight and New Harbour Range.
We didn't summit Mt Melaleuca - we were only 400 metres (or possibly less) from the summit proper, but the scrub was too hard to make it worthwhile.
It was easy enough to this point, but my look of despair tells all...
The views from the ridges as you go higher and higher towards Mt Melaleuca are enough that you don't really need to summit it unless you're a peak bagger or you want to see to the west, or you just like pushing through very difficult scrub. Not worth the effort for me tho.
Your go ILUVSWTAS.
