I haven't been up Weindorfers Tower, but don't think you are near there.
The only other option would be The Little Horn which I have been up a couple of times & I'm pretty sure you are not there
(I have been up that one from a couple of different directions & it doesn't seem to match your photo, tho I could be wrong).
I haven't been to Benson Peak, but maybe you are heading there?

Well I've only walked along the Face Track below it, so dealing with unfamiliar angles, but I'm pretty sure it's Little Horn eggs? The second photo is looking up towards Weindorfers Tower and Cradle from there? Anyway that's my guess.

Yes - its a pity stu was sure it wasn't the Little Horn.

There must be about 3 different approaches to it - but we were right in the saddle of Cradle.
Your turn John.

OK sorry about the delay. Don't worry I often find myself in places I know like the back of my hand, and have to ask "now which way do I go again?" But I think that might be advancing middle age...

Looks a bit like the view over Seal Lake from Tarn Shelf John.

Hi Gerry, It does look similar to the view from Tarn Shelf over L. Seal, but no this is quite some distance from there, in a different park.

I am thinking it might be a view over Forgotten lake from the climb up to Little Hugel?

Well done eggs, that was quick. I thought it might take a bit longer. Yes it's overlooking Forgotten Lake from part way up Little Hugel during a visit last August. We didn't quite make the top as I was concerned about running out of daylight and wanted to complete the circuit joining the Mt Rufus track. Your turn...

Yes - it was a harder one John.

I can only think of a few lakes totally surrounded by eucalypt, and yet looking out to an open background.
The portion of the lake in the photo suggested a heart shape and that was the thing that pointed me towards that area.

This may be a harder one:

I take that back about being hard.

Well done. We had just left the Lake Nameless hut and were climbing around the side of 40 Lakes Peak before heading up over its higher parts with a short side trip to the very top.

I'm guessing that the strange yellow object in question would be my mate wearing his high visibility safety gear

He tends to bring it along on walks when the weather is looking a bit threatening!!

Crikey! that gear must be awfully hot and heavy to carry!! I'd be insulted by that Phil! It's like he expects to get lost when walking with you...

Yeah, it's quite funny really......we always get stuck into him when he brings it out and we get to have a good laugh!

He's one of those guys that is almost over prepared and brings absolutely everything!.......but doesn't really have much bush walk specific gear so ends up with wierd gear like this!

Reminds me of my very first walks in Tas - 30 years ago.

I was a student doing vac work in a mine near Zeehan, and I was issued with some very heavy yellow plastic rainwear and steel capped boots.
That was what I ended up taking with me on the overnight trips into Pelion, Pine Valley and up Mt Anne.
I also took a small but heavy tomahawk and all in an old H-frame pack with a vanishingly small hip belt - so all the weight was on the shoulders.
But would I do all that again by choice? Maybe if I was young and strong enough to carry it - but modern gear has come a long way.

Initially I thought maybe Lake Louisa from Mt Rogoona, then I spotted a cliff dropping through the water, which makes me think it might be Lake Meston.

That'll do Peter. It is Lake Meston from the back of Rogoona. Over to you.

Although I was signed in tonight I didn't check the result. So am a little late replying.

I have edited part of this photo to remove the very distinguishing features of the mountain behind, as it have made it a bit easy. But you never know.

The question is what is the name of the lake?

Perhaps Cyane Lake?
Would appear to be The Acropolis in the background from somewhere in the Labyrinth.

Well stu - I initially thought Walled Mountain, but after some careful examination I have to admit - the Acropolis is probably right.
But the angles from Cyane look out - if possible at all.

Maybe it is from Lake Hermes?

Yeah, I initially thought Pool of Memories, but the lake doesn't look right.
I think you are definitely right on my first, incorrect guess, too far south & the angle isn't right at all.
I'm now thinking maybe Lake Selene as there seems to be a rise in front of it?
But then so does Hermes.
I think we're getting closer...

You are correct about Acropolis Stu and you probably would have got Hermes before long. However eggs got there first; it is Lake Hermes and a lovely lake it is too.

You haven't been to the Labyrinth????
I'd be moving it right to the top of my to do list if I were you eggs, it's a beautiful place & a great base acmp at Lake Elysia to do many great peaks:
Geryon, Hyperion, Walled etc. etc.

I heven't been to this next area but as a guess are you at or near Connecting Lake looking at Ironstone Mountain?

Right you are Phil (though I think it is spelled Loane)

That was quick

Edit - Sorry stu - missed your post.
I wondered if someone might think the profile was Ironstone
As for the Labyrinth - we went to Pine Valley on my first visit. Rained all the way in - climbed the Acropolis when it was plastered with snow - and froze at the top in a white out when it then magically lifted for views all around. Next day we hiked out hailing most of the way - and that was mid February!
