I'm sure it would be but we didn't get over that way. Starting from Cody we stayed in Yellowstone for a week then headed south to Jackson Hole and the Tetons for a few days.

Well John, I am thinking hard about Canada now: you obviously have a fair amount of altitude by the look of those snow capped mountains yet in the foreground I see a flower bed and lawn, seems an unusual combo. The peaks in the background look pretty distinctive too.

Not there but it is western Canada, on the mainland.
The mountains are real and I'm in a world heritage national park.
The gardens and the heritage building they surround are an oddity in such a location.

Yes that's it Greg. The second photo shows the administration building for Banff NP/Parks Canada c1935.
It and the gardens have historical significance being the first national park building in Canada. Both are heritage listed items.
I struggle with the concept of a garden of mainly exotic European plants in a national park charged with conservation of the natural environment.
That said it is a lovely spot and well worth wandering through. It has full time gardeners, hopefully they keep the plants contained to that location.

Now is the time to confess that I sought the help of Canadian friends in BC who were able to tell me that if it was on the mainland it was not really worth knowing about, like it was some strange and foreign place, but if they had to guess they would say maybe somewhere in Alberta. So it was haha.

I'm assuming they are on Vancouver Island as most of BC is actually on the mainland!

Greg, as the world is such a large place, for the international game you need to nominate a country or at least the continent.
Similar to specifying the state in the Aussie version. I assumed your comment about continuing the theme meant it was still in Canada.

Hmmmm, OK then, noted.... but if I nominate the country that pretty much give the answer on a platter. What about if I say I did a walk there in 2010 which was damn hard but not as hard as it was for Australians in WWll? It is in that quadrant xx.xxS xx.xxE

I get what you mean Greg, but I also get where the rule comes from, there are so many places to see!

So are you actually on the Kokoda? Maybe looking at Mt Bellamy? Or is it just in Papua?

A most telling question Bigbird, my answers are no, no and no. This mountain is on another island and is more than 1800m higher than Bellamy.

Gunung Kinabalu it is! At the western end of the Sandakan to Renau walk. Location of a pretty sad event in Digger history.
