Dunphys camping area closure

Thu 13 Aug, 2020 10:38 pm

Hi all,

I am planning on walking to Knights Deck from Dunphys Camping area this weekend in possible, however according to the NPWS website Dunphys Camping area is closed, while Knights Deck, Breakfast Creek and Tin Pot/Iron Pot are specifically mentioned as being open. Does anyone know if this means I will be able to park at the campsite to start the walk, or is it completely shut even for day use/parking?

Hi irrgent,

When I was there 2 weeks ago there is a place to park at the bottom of the hill (where the bridge over the creek used to be) and you can walk up the hill from there. It adds about 1km each way to your walk.

Oh cool the Wild Dogs are open now. Curiously, the NPWS site says they're open "north of Mobbs Swamp" then "including Splendour Rock". At the risk of being pedantic...

WFBW: There is (or at least was a few weeks ago) a map hanging on the new locked gate just before Galong creek that makes it clearer - doesn't seem to have been published online thought which is odd. The kennel flats track is closed from Mobbs Swamp onwards towards yellow pup.

However you are allowed to head up to Warrigal Gap from Mobbs Swamp and join the wombat parade track out to splendour rock (you could also ascend at blackhorse gap and bypass mobbs swamp).
