[FS L'ton TAS] "Winterlite" sleeping bag. Very Warm!

This J&H "Winterlite" sleeping bag was given to me as a birthday present in the early 90's. J&H later merged with Aiking to form "One Planet" who still make the Winterlite sleeping bag.

It was rated to -11 degrees C at the time, and it was always too warm for me, even when sleeping outside on the deck of a hut in the snow. (For the past ~10 years, I've been using a -7 bag which is still too warm most of the time, but occasionally a bit too cold, so I think it's about right for me and the range of walks I do. The Winterlite has been sitting in a cupboard for most of that time, only being lent out once or twice.)

The Winterlite did get one tear in it once when I got the fabric caught in the zip and pulled to hard trying to unstick it. A few members of the forum were present to witness my being covered in feathers when I got up that morning! I stuffed most of the feathers back in, and didn't lose much in the end.

My wife sewed up the hole for me, and it's all OK again.

I have lost the stuff sack though.

Anybody want a very warm, but well used (but cleaned) bag?

If I had the storage space I'd get this just for the nostalgia factor. My first ever proper bag was a J&H and it was brilliant. Not the lightest, but so warm and comfortable.

Yep... such a good bag. The only reason I'm passing it on now, is that I need to dismantle the furniture that it is stored in. I no longer have anywhere to keep it.

I should post some photos of the bag in use, but I'd have to scan them... they were mostly before digital photos were common-place.

Great bag, used one in the 80s to over 7000m, much too warm for me in Australia too but still my wife's skitouring bag.
Still in occasional use.
I got cold in it for the first time a couple of years ago, minus 20 at least, 5000m+, Himalaya in autumn and now I am over 60.

Here's a few photos, including a close up of where the rip was sewn closed again. It was simply sewn right through all layers, so potentially a small cold spot next to the zip there. Never found it to be cold in practice, though.

This may help. I have a Winterlite branded OP, but made in Queenbeyan, so should be the same spec as yours, despite being in OP colours.

The original stuff sack, laid flat, is 33cm across the parallel section and maintains that for 36cm before curving into the bottom.

For general use, I have a generic sack for which the same measurements are 37cm and 36cm respectively. This one packs easier and I can get a silk liner in with the bag.

They are indeed VERY warm.
