That looks very similar to a spot I know quite well on the Arm River track, up the hill west of L.Price. Not certain tho, I can't make that peak "fit".

Also looks to me like it could be the Arm River Track area, and if so my guess is that the photo was taken looking ENE to Mt Pillinger from somewhere between Lake Ayr and Reedy Lake. But the notch in the peak doesn't look quite right so . . . .

The game is a whole lot harder now I have taken all my photos and put them on another computer.
I just spotted the rock in this image that we have stopped at for lunch a few times, directly in front of the right side of the mountain, but without cross referencing the photos I have of Mt Pillinger from there I still can't be sure.
Because you haven't reached the high point yet that would explain why there are no mountains on the horizon (P.East, Hyperion & a stack of others).
Also, how far back in your archives is this image? I cannot see the track but would expect to, it's boardwalk there now.

I think I should have checked the map for the lake names too. Perhaps Price is the earlier lake and as Tas-man says Reedy lake might be the one I refer to. Like, if you were at it and headed north or NW you would be in February Plains.

Funny if it wasn't here.

:)

Not the arm river area.. Too far north, but I can see the resemblances.
Its quite a well known mountain but not from this angle.

I can recall some photos similar to this from ILSWTAS a while ago, might have been a gallery post. Might do a browse if I get time later.

When you say too far north - is it a little farther south - say a bit north of Junction lake looking at Mt Rogoona side on?

Are you think of the track through to Lake Meston, or the Moses Creek track? Mt Rogoona appeared much larger from memory on the meston track, but the terrain looks pretty similar

If it was in the Junction Lake area - perhaps even on the Never Never, there are 3 possible "peaks".
Rogoona, the southern side of Cathedral or the Mts of Jupiter area.
I was initially suggesting the Meston track - but I have not been there, and not sure of what Rogoona would look like in profile?

I dont think it is in the junction area, I think it may be cradle mountain, from a southern perspective. Likely that it isn't though

Allright - eliminating Junction Lake area & I can suggest it won't be the southern part of Cradle and having scanned through my Overland walk photos...

There is one peak that appears to have the same profile but in reverse. I was looking at it from the north - so that would make this shot from the south.
That is Mt Ida - and if so, the photo would be from the high plateau to its south - maybe from one of the clearings near Lake Sappho.

I just checked my maps and realised that it couldn't be cradle. Having not walked any further south of cradle I am not familiar with what the peaks look like in that area. I'm just going off clues and my maps. I am trying to think of places that are notorious for leeches, but im sure its not taken from anywhere near to frog flats, not sure of any other places as notorious as FF

Well picked eggs!

Its indeed Mt Ida, taken from the south somewhere near lake Sappho on the Travellers Range. Quite a few years ago now.
We stopped for a break somewhere around there and in minutes we're swarmed on by hordes of leaches!

Must remember - leeches at Lake Sappho..

You're right, it's a difficult one. But based on a photo from a long time ago, I reckon here.
Skeleton Bay, right out on the point, Skeleton Rock.

If I'm right anyone can have a go, won't be back til tonight.

tasadam has done the hard work.
We had been to Skeleton Rock earlier that day.
This is from further north - but the lighthouse is at Eddystone Point

Hmm - starting to hedge your bets again ... 3 different locations in the one post

Anyway - it was a tough one and it was from the northern rocks at the Gardens (next to Mateys Gulch) - so over to you.

Well I think it was actually only 2 locations as the entire area is known as "The Gardens".
Cosy and Sloop are 2 locations inside "The Gardens" As in I think you were in The Gardens somewhere maybe at Cosy Corner or Sloop Reef.

Thanks though, i'll find a pic.......

Paying me back with a non-descript one...

You had better let "the List" know that Cosy Corner and Sloop Reef are in the Gardens - and probably change a few road signs up there...
They look to be 5 kms apart ?

One thing peakbagging has taught me is that lists are not always correct.

Anyway yes it's quite non-descript, but it's quite possible to figure out the location with a bit of your usual detective work.

That I can do...

Exif info in the photo shows it as being taken 12th October 2009 at 7:18 AM.
This post was made by you same day, 5:17 AM
This post also made by you same day 12:16 PM.
The shadows of the trees on the hill in the sun are not visible, so you have the sun at your back.
So, I reckon you must have wandered outside from your place, turned west, took the photo, then maybe got a bit of shut-eye before jumping on the forum again?
Or maybe the date in your camera's wrong and my theory's blown.
