Looking towards the ski tow from the Tarn Shelf track as it sidles the ski fields
Sun 17 Sep, 2023 8:54 pm
Are you sure of that?
Sun 17 Sep, 2023 9:24 pm
are you on a monotreme themed walk?
Sun 17 Sep, 2023 9:31 pm
Last is probably right

The name of this track is actually botanical. But I'm not sure exactly which bit of track eggs is talking about, which is why a little clarification would be appreciated. He's close, if not necessarily 100% correct.

I think it starts as the snow gum walk?
Mon 18 Sep, 2023 10:17 am
Thank you. Snowgum Track is what I was after. Or "NO GUM" as the sign said last time I was there ...
Take it away, egghead.
Mon 18 Sep, 2023 5:04 pm
Ossa?
Mon 18 Sep, 2023 9:41 pm
Yes - that would be right

Lovely photo Tortoise. Looking at the geology etc surely its gotta be Freycinet. Mt Mayson?

It's been a long time since I was lucky enough to join a boat trip over, but reminds me of bear hill on Schouten island.

Thanks, John. Yes and not quite.

You've got a good memory, Lta. It is indeed Bear Hill. Yes, I'm really grateful to have had the opportunity too. And a feast of the freshest, best scallops ever.

Thanks tortoise. It's a beautiful island.
I don't have many pictures, but this is a spot visited by bushwalkers and fisherman alike.

That fish seems to have gotten itself lost. Oh, sorry... "geographically challenged".
Wed 20 Sep, 2023 10:43 am
Don't stand still here, the leeches will get you
Wed 20 Sep, 2023 11:00 am
That fish got beached with some gentle persuasion in the form of a black spinner fly...
And my oh my yes. Lots of black wriggly things in this area, both small ones and large ones...

Hmm. Noboby appears to have actually named it yet. The profiles of KW1, Milligan and Pitt look pretty good for Lake Dixon, but I'm not sure about the actual angle. My memory of it is all the tea tree we hit after the 'fisherman's track' stops.

There are flats like that on the western side, although it can't be the easiest getting to them. But fishingpeoples can be a bit fanatical; not at all like us sane, sensible, rational peakbaggers ...

Well done tortoise, it is indeed Dixon. Taken from the eastern shore though as I'm not sure you'd get the angle to KW like this from the western banks, even if one made the effort. When the water level is low it is fairly easy to negotiate the shoreline between the inflow and outflow.

*snorts loudly with laughter*
There was I time I thought you were all crazy.

Maybe I'll take up fishing one day.
And I'll keep that in mind if I ever go in that way again. Hmm. While I have visited Gell, we went in and out from the other end. And our Gell trip in this way was brought to an abrupt end by unforecast snow++, wind++ and ... a probable episode of plummeting blood pressure. And the next trip was only to Chimera. So MAYbe there's unfinished business there...

Anyone want to take Egg's advice?

All you have to do is search for it on LISTmap. There's only one option. This is your chance!
